The building was designed to be a state of the art Performing Arts Centre and Multi-Purpose Music and Learning Centre with an extensive amount of architectural flare, using a combination of bold lines, angles and curves to provide a certain ‘WOW’ factor.
The project entailed the construction of an ultra-modern, state of the art, two-level combined Performing Arts Centre and Multi-Purpose Music & Learning facility, highlighted by the main entry area with its dramatic cantilevered eave supported by triangular components named “The Players” which represent actors performing in the theatre.
The Performing Arts Centre consisted of a main 250 seat auditorium and back of house preparation areas suspended on a ground slab with a further drama workshops and the services plant rooms cut into the hillside below.
The Multi-Purpose Music and Learning facility is a single level structure supported on a suspended concrete ground slab (same level as the Performing Arts Centre), consisting of recording studios, acoustic treated music rooms, general learning areas and amenities.
