Johns Lyng Commercial Builders is proud to have established a reputation as a ‘Safe and Reputable Builder’ in the construction industry.

Our Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems are certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001.

Our participation in industry-based OHS committees and alliances provides access to innovative, industrysupported health and safety strategies. These strategies are used to promote a ‘Safety Culture’ within the company that is embraced from Director level through to our site staff.

We take both our compliance and moral obligations very seriously, living and breathing our ‘Safety Culture’ philosophies, ensuring that we continue to exceed the legal requirements of our OHS policies.

Johns Lyng Commercial Builders ensures the safety of its employees, subcontractors, clients and of the wider public, and we develop and maintain a comprehensive OHS plan for every project undertaken.

We maintain a “self check” process that includes ongoing consultation with our site personnel, requiring them to inspect the safety aspects of the site on a daily basis. Our OHS Manager regularly reviews these checks and conducts an additional monthly site audit.
We also invite an external body to review our system, audits and compliance every 18 months. All findings are disclosed to all parties involved in the project, and are used to continuously improve our safety systems.

Performance statistics are reviewed by the senior management team each month at our Group Operations meeting. A range of activities are monitored, such as incident and hazard reports and their ‘close out’, Lost Time & Medically Treated Injury Frequency Rates, outcomes of permits issued for high risk work activities and the number of inductions, among many others.

Our team maintains a state of continuous improvement, reliant on consultation with our stakeholders. Any and all feedback is used to drive the ongoing improvements to our system.
